Corona Virus (COVID-19) - Introduction
WHO declared the novel coronavirus a pandemic on March 11, 2020 when confirmed cases soared to 118,000 across 114 territories with 4291 deaths.Since COVID-19 first erupted in China, it has begun the devastating race across the continents. As of May, 2020, COVID-19 has infected more than 3.3million people across the globe and has claimed about 238,950 lives. Now it’s making a strong hold in lower-middle income countries like Pakistan.
Sustaining economic growth during pandemic is a one of the biggest challenges for Pakistan. With world implementing strict lockdowns to contain the virus, Pakistan is still confused since it is fighting battles of poverty and COVID-19 at the same time. Government has announced numerous policies for SME’s, construction industry, pharmaceutical and have issued SOPs to help business community in the time of need. RCCI is facilitating the business community amidst pandemic by solving their queries regarding announced polices and by providing timely and valuable advice to small businesses.
RCCI Relief Activities Amidst Pandemic
Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) is currently providing aid to the deprived class of the community through distribution of ration bags at various spots. Moreover, RCCI is also providing door to door food distribution, which is divided in different phases.
